I need a haircut and some exericse. =>
I will say more about what is going on a little later.
The post below is from about 2002. That is Sofia on my shoulders and she is seven years old now.
I am Marcus Pierson, husband, father of three girls (Sofia on my shoulders), healthcare executive, physician, and occasional patient. I have served as the chaiman of Whatcom Community Health Improvement Consortium for the last five years. I now have the privelege of serving for the next two years as the Project Executive for Whatcom County’s Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Pursing Perfection grant.
For the next two years I will be working with a lot of people in Whatcom County, WA (http://www.hinet.org/CHIC/default.htm) and around the world to make significant breakthroughs in the care within Whatcom county. By working with other innovative organizations around the globe we will learn from and encourage each other to raise the bar for quality in health care.
I am going to use this site to communicate about our vision and our progress along the path of this Robert Wood Johnson Foundation supported journy.
Feel free to e-mail me (mpierson@peacehealth.org) or call me (360 738-6709). We need all the support and encouragement we can get.
We must move beyond blame, beyond trying harder, beyond autonomy. Lessons from the field of complex adaptive systems are embeded into the Crossing the Quality Chasm report and into the grant process. We will continually focus on the Six Aims and the Ten Simple Rules for redesign proposed in the report and the grant.
